BEHIND THE SCENES

We feel that it is important for families to be aware that, once entrusted into our care, deceased persons are treated with complete respect, reverence and dignity.

The funeral industry in South Australia remains unregulated, and it cannot be taken for granted that funeral directors have the necessary premises, mortuary and equipment to provide you with the level of service and presentation you would expect.

Membership of a professional association is one way that you can be assured that your chosen funeral director has the necessary expertise, experience and infrastructure.  Reputable funeral directors will always be happy to discuss aspects of mortuary care with clients.

Knight Brenton James provides secure, hygienically maintained mortuary preparation areas at our funeral homes at Brighton and Para Hills West.  Both are housed within the structure of the funeral home, and are alarmed against refrigeration failure and intrusion.

We favour a natural, chemical free presentation of deceased persons for viewing wherever possible, but we accept that in some cases embalming and chemical hygiene treatment is necessary.  Ensuring the best presentation for clients will always be our first priority.

Knight Brenton James staff are on call twenty four hours a day, and will attend to mortuary transfers in unmarked, specially equipped vehicles.   Covered stretchers similar to those operated by ambulance services are used to remove the deceased from the place of death.  Dignity, care and discretion are assured.

VIEWINGS

Whether or not to view the deceased is a personal choice, although in the case of cremation, the law requires an identification to be completed prior to cremation taking place.  A viewing can be a very positive experience for families, and assist them towards acceptance of their loss.   The viewing can take place at the time of the funeral, depending on where the funeral is being held, or within the privacy of our funeral homes.

Your funeral consultant will be able to advise you on these issues, and will place our funeral homes at the disposal of your family to accommodate your wishes.
